Por Vida & The Tree Team - Wineberry & Buck (Album)
The Tree Team have been heavy on the grind with releases, from acclaimed projects to creative visuals, however high their reach is, they’ve been able to achieve those heights again & again, creating nothing but greatness for their catalogs and staying consistent in the process. Their latest collaboration shows them working with producer Por Vida who’s as talented as they come. From his days with the PNTHN to working last year with Pat Ron on their collaboration & of course, dropping mixes in between releases. He’s far beyond prestigious, so when it was announced that both he & The Tree Team would be linking together for a 7-track project titled “Wineberry & Buck,” all engineered by Sage, it was already certified to be a must-hear project. It cemented their status to be on point with the workload of supplying prominent content for their listeners to enjoy.
The album opens up to Levicantsing crooning this beautiful start to his & REEK’s record titled “Hold It Dine,” where the screwed sample plastered by the illustrious Por Vida seals the deal while REEK gets to delivering his suave performance throughout the record, gliding like candy point in the cut already setting the bar for the rest of the project to match, and spoiler alert; it does. REEK appears in the following record, “Playas Ball,” accompanied by 98Priest, where the laid-back production sits on 24’s riding high. At the same time, the two gifted emcees get back to keeping it P when speaking on the endeavors with the women they are seeing, speaking on the motion they make and still sticking to the g-code of being real with goals in mind to stack up with success if you're willing to roll with them to the next stage. The project is already setting the mood, the top-down cruise through the city type feel, love in the air with the Texas inspiration at every crack so far in the album. The next record is “Ms. Parker,” where King Khali is solo dolo in the track, starting off the record with words he thought he never said. His heart is all out in his hands, telling you the things you want to hear with meaning in his voice, he’s found love at an unexpected time in his life, and he’s thinking of keeping it with you if that’s what you want to. He’s cherishing the moment and getting lost in it with you, double-cup admiration; he’s leaning into you with everything and hopes he might have found the one. The music in this project is so unique, from the wood grain intro of Malcolm Jakob clutching the wheel and swanging on “All I Know.” Levicantsing raises it up the heavens and keeps it floating for “Third Coast Shawty,” where Niko2K & Reek go hand in hand with applying immense pressure of illustrious raps that ain’t being touched. A highlight for me is the record “Nile,” which is a pinnacle feeling for The Tree Team to conquer in a tranquil state and still have an impeccable performance, the definition of a chef’s kiss because there are many takeaways and so much more that you make you do the expression whenever the song gets to playing. The last record, titled “SOME,” featuring King Khali, Eastside Fish, Niko2K & additional production from ARK, is sensational. From start to finish, you got the intense feeling of grandeur with each artist playing their part in creating a record for you to set sail on an odyssey of fortune & grind. The breakthrough sound with combining the unique touches put on by Por Vida makes the album stand out, not just in their catalog but in general to becoming your official playlist for the hottest season of the year, top-down when you begin to blare this out your whip and make sure the A/C is at full blast when knocking the speakers especially here in Texas.
Por Vida & The Tree Team have already announced that next week they’re releasing a party to celebrate the project’s release with performances of the tracks. If you enjoy the project, then missing out on the show is a dumb decision; we recommend that you be out there supporting their movement, and if you can, be sure to put someone new who’s sleeping on The Tree Team by having them check out the latest release while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
