Free Party - PG Baby (EP)

One of our new favorite duos, Free Party, had been teasing that new music from them would be dropping soon. They shared a series of posts on their social media with the date 9/3 attached to them that had anticipation growing at a substantial pace from listeners wanting to see what they've been working on since the release of their "Mirrors In A Dark Room" project. It wouldn't be long since the date of 9/3 was the actual release date of a 3-track EP titled "PG Baby" that the duo would be delivering to the masses a trifecta look into the promising future they hold within their talents.

The self-titled intro "PG Baby" was an emotional roller coaster for me during my first listen. I sat down with this track on rotation before embarking on the two other tracks because I wept deeply on how powerful this record is. You can hear the bold feeling of seeing a sinful lifestyle as an adolescent then seeing the come up slowly grow as you get older, wanting a better life for yourself. It's such a vivid reflection of not wanting to bare your soul unless it's over some drums wondering if people hear it; do they actually care at the end of the day. As a lister myself, I do, which is why this first verse hit home much. The chorus perfectly describes that feeling so well, which goes further into the second verse. If you thought tears were wiped away clean after the first verse, then you are deeply mistaken. The force awakens more in the second verse with you not wanting to see vices control your life; you work hard to get here with your brothers to see hate and deceitfulness take their toll in affecting your outcome. Too many people with double agendas, and it's not safe to think everyone you come across is cool; that's why those around since day one are the ones you keep close to you since the trust remains there. The sacrifice in their voices is what does it for me, that put everything on the line to make sure the substance they push out is enough for the people to feel what they say. It's a damn good start to an EP; if you ask me, I don't think I heard an intro that good in a while, but don't let me say all that to overshadow the rest of the tracks because they do their thing on a lot broader scale.

"Helly's & Foams" is that laid-back record with having the duo spitting a barrage of raps that are too lethal. Each verse is dripping like butter on a roll with how slick their wordplays just come off with ease. The suave pedigree they possess behind their demeanor plays a huge part in moving the pen on how creative and versatile they can be behind the mic. Perfectly way to showcase that is the final record, "Favorite Jeans," which continues their smooth technique by providing more crooning over rhymes on the record to where they want to be snugged up a pair of jeans on a curvaceous woman. Playing the part of the stitching on the Levi's, there trying to be close to you, like the wallet and phone you keep in your linen pockets, but you don't seem to know they exist. Give them a chance to provide your needs since they know you fit perfectly together. The art of storytelling is superb here in these three records; it's crazy how this EP became better than some of the top 5 projects that dropped this year. It's no all surprising since I've always said these guys are blessed with a talent that can move planets, and I believe the masses got to see a little bit more of that here with these tracks.

During the promotion for the project, I know they shared small clips of the tracks that looked like they were part of a music video. I don't know if we'll see a visual for all three tracks later down the road, but I sure hope we do. In the meantime, we highly recommend you check out Free Party's latest EP here while sharing it around on all social media platforms.
