Hidden Gems: Muriel

Dallas has had a surge of artists making waves (no pun intended) in the last few years, and one of the hidden gems in the city, hands down, has to be the alluring songstress, Muriel. Under her nickname, Oakcliffprincess, she’s known for her versatile sounds. One minute she can construct a banger off the top, and the next, she’s swooning you in with her vocal on a ballad discussing the heartbreak or the infectious melody of a joyous number. Her unique sound can be summed up in her EP “Trust The Process,” released earlier in the year and since has nested her to be a rising star among the R&B scene. Another prominent characteristic of her artistry is her wardrobe selection during performances; she’s in a league of her own when it comes to attires on stage. She works with a series of creatives to help bring these majestic fashion ideas to life with the help of her glamorous stance and efficacious presence. We haven’t had the chance to see her in person yet, but it’s on the top of our list in the new year; but in the meantime, it doesn’t mean we can’t interview her, which is what we did. Check out our interview with her here to see some of the topics we touched on, and below will be some singles, EP, and visuals to help introduce more of our viewership to her angelic work.

Frank: Muriel aka The OakCliff Princess, what is the origin of the moniker? Was it something given to you or something you started calling yourself that sticked?

Muriel: A nickname that I have is Oakcliffprincess and it was given to me by my younger brother .

Frank: Tell us how you got started making music? It sounds like you have a real passion for creating sumptuous sounds and are talented

Muriel: I got started with music a year ago but I’ve been singing since. I was 8 the reason behind why I love music is I got inspired by my uncle he was a very important person in my life before he passed away he told me to sing and follow my dream because I would make it. 😭

Frank: Earlier in the year you dropped your first EP titled “Trust The Process” that helped give an introduction to your artistry in multiple sounds,  was there a favorite of the four tracks that stood out the you the most?

Muriel: My favorite track off my EP is “He Said”. That song was written about a man with mental illness and on drugs describing his lifestyle and how he was unstable. It gives the message that men should speak up more often about what’s going on in their lives.

Frank: What do you say is the best way to describe your music to someone who is unfamiliar with you?

Muriel: My music would be best described as versatile and different . I always will release something different and with a story behind it.

Frank: We know from your Instagram page your not one to shy away from the cameras, you always have creatives attires especially for your performance, without spoiling you secrets what do you usually look for in choosing your look for a show?

Muriel: I always go based off how I’m feeling and how could I showcase the best of me. On stage? So what I do with the stylist I currently work with is we do some research and try looks that would suit me the best but honestly the team I have is so creative and very authentic they definitely understand the assignment .

Frank: I know you mentioned to us before that you plan on sharing new music real soon including some Spanish joints, any release dates on when we could see it surface?

Muriel: Yes!! I’m currently working on Spanish music but before that I will release a English single. I don’t have a specific date but definitely 2022 💓

Frank: What motivates you to continue prospering with your craft?

Muriel: My daughter. She inspires me to go harder everyday .

Frank: Is there any artist or producer you would want to work with in the future?

Muriel: Currently I would say Krystall Poppin and I would love to work with Doja Cat one day💓

Frank: Any plans you have for 2022? Tour? Collaborations in the work?

Muriel: Definitely new music, new visuals and I see myself being on more stages in 2022 with a lot of success on the way.

Frank: What is something you want the world to know about Muriel?

Muriel: I would want the world to know that I have a really big heart and we all can be misunderstood but we all deserve love.
