Eye-witnessing performances from Teezo Touchdown, Big Boi, Flo Milli, Key Glock & more at SXSW ‘24

Having the SXSW we did and the fact I love to write, I couldn’t wrap it up in one article. I decided to make this one showcasing the performances we saw and enjoyed while giving a personal insight into my experience since there were a lot of takeaways and memories I got from the week-long festival that can’t go unnoticed.

Our first day for music showcases was spectacular; I start every year with a list of artists I want to see live, with Teezo Touchdown being at the top of my list alongside Karrahboo on there as well which thanks to Rolling Stone’s Future Of Music showcase. I would be scratching these names off first. The first opening night at ACL Live had the R&B crooner Chase Shakur start with an impressive set that remained incredible. My first introduction to his sound and I was blown away with his stage presence and vigorous performance, which had me searching immediately on streaming sites to hear his astounding catalog. Up next was Concrete's finest Karrahboo, who performed fan-favorite singles “Box The 40”, her verse off “Mo Jamz,” & “Splash Brothers,” with Anycia, who would join her on stage. You can tell while she performed, she was very nervous but kept her energy up throughout her set, making it one of the best to enjoy, and anticipated to see her growth moving forward. Lola Brooke followed soon after, with her set being explosive, and kept the feeling high throughout her time. It was easily achieved due to her ability to control the crowd with her lyrics and inclusion. Veeze soon approached the stage, performing fan favorites off his highly acclaimed “Ganger” album including “Rich No Duh,” “GOMD,” & “Not A Drill”. Last but not least was Teezo Touchdown, who did not disappoint, he started his set explaining this was his first official set at SXSW and wanted to make it unique by performing his album “How Do You Sleep At Night” which was a moment for me since the album still hold dear to me as being a personal favorite of mine. We got to enjoy the other days of the Rolling Stone’s showcases, where we had our highlights like seeing Flyana Boss performing their viral hit “U Wish” & the Queen-sample track “Mama Mia” or the introduction of Black Sherif whose record “January 9th” had us in a trance and enjoying the moment while he paraded on stage. On one of our busiest days conducting media, I found myself racing from ACL Live to the Revolt House on 6th Street, seeing Paper Route Entertainment signees Big Moochie Grape & Key Glock, who tore down the place in spectacular fashion. Another one of our highlights was seeing the Freaknik showcased, hosted by executive producers of the documentary Jermaine Dupri & Uncle Luke. The lineup consisted of The Ying Yang twins, Flo Milli, Bun B & headlining act Big Boi & Sleepy Brown, which crossed another name off my seeing “So Fresh & So Clean” performed. Even without the appearance of Andre 3K for the performance, Big Boi makes the record feel surreal and put on display of his own unique swagger to it. The adolescent years of me enjoying such a lineup was great to witness and really stapled everything for me to see forward in the week to be an absolute joy.

My week was memorable; from the days of waiting in line to seeing a legendary act to now being front row and seeing behind my lens of my camera and enjoying it as a fan is a monumental moment for me. I’m blessed with the opportunity to have my name tied in with my business to put on for my city for a worldwide event to take notice. It makes me who I am, and I strive for more greatness that I’ve already built. SXSW got my soul, and Texas got my heart.
