For years, we’ve watched RDCWorld create, entertain, and build a community that merges anime, gaming, hip-hop, comedy, and authenticity into something entirely unique. To finally step into that world in real life was an experience we’ll never forget. This was our first DreamCon and it won’t be our last.

A Space Built By Us, For Us

Walking into DreamCon feels like walking into a world where you don’t have to explain your passion; you just belong. From the moment we stepped foot inside the George R Brown Convention Center, it was clear that this wasn’t just a con, it was a cultural hub, a safe space for Black and Brown creatives to geek out over anime, celebrate gaming achievements, meet idols turned mentors, and network with like-minded visionaries.

RDCWorld built a legacy. And it’s one that feels even bigger in person.

A Weekend to Remember

Spanning three full days, the DreamCon experience was layered with interactive panels, live gaming sessions, exclusive screenings, cosplay competitions, esports tournaments, meet-and-greets, and surprise pop-ups that kept the energy high and the smiles wide.

We attended panels where streaming legends and rising stars shared their journeys. We witnessed anime debates so passionate they might’ve been better than your favorite anime battles. We saw cosplay artistry that rivaled professional studios. And we captured it all in photos that told the story of joy, freedom, pride, and creativity at every corner.

Streaming is the New Frontier

One of the biggest takeaways? The rise of streaming culture isn’t a wave, it’s a movement (no pun intended). Whether it was up-and-coming Twitch personalities, YouTubers with fanbases that stretched across the country, or casual content creators grinding toward their big break, the talent was everywhere.

You could feel that we were witnessing the beginnings of the next RDC or AMP. That inspiration hit differently. It reminded us that the only thing separating today’s dreamer from tomorrow’s icon is consistency, vision, and community.

More Than Nerd Culture..

DreamCon gives the word “nerd” a makeover. Here, being a nerd is fly. It’s expressive. It’s powerful. Whether you were repping a custom anime jacket, performing a Naruto-inspired dance battle, or rocking grills with your favorite manga tee, you saw how culture and creativity collide without boundaries.

We saw people laughing with strangers, dancing in the halls, and making lifelong connections simply because they love the same anime or game. And that’s the kind of energy that makes DreamCon special, the idea that shared passion can build lifelong bonds.

Inspiration That Lingers

For us here at the WAVEZ, DreamCon 2025 reaffirmed something we’ve always believed in, that community and culture will always win. We left inspired, energized, and excited to keep doing what we do: tell stories, amplify voices, and document the culture as it evolves.
