Malik Elijah - SOMETHINGSIHATE (Video)

All praise to 93 Kurt Loder for putting us on to Maryland emcee Malik Elijah through his latest visual titled “SOMETHINGSIHATE.” The video instantly caught my attention with how mellow and euphonious the record is, where it became a favorite drop of the month for us and helped pave an introduction to his content.

With his back on the ground in a wide-open space is where we first catch Malik expressing his dulcet nature of keeping his pace comfortably. Tales of the tortoise and the hare are inspirations to him since no matter the speed; we’re getting to the same goal eventually. You rush ahead for the thrills but miss out on everything else, and by the time you know it, it's too late. You got to watch how you move because snakes in the grass will bite you when you least expect, especially if your doing better than them. It’s the way the world works but keeping your eyes focused on the prize helps keep the bullshit away and leaves the nonsense at the door. Malik’s grandeur approach by painting the image that he’s not your typical emcee; he’s a one-of-a-kind breed being that he wants to see his goals accomplished without the need to bend to people’s will or to sell his soul. The track showcase how versatile his flow is, where one minute he’s spitting vigorous raps and the next second he’s crooning with such melodic tendencies that it’s easy for you to become a new fan off first listen.

After further research, I did see that the record is off his 2-track EP titled “Idhateitifiwasthem” that dropped back at the end of October. I’m glad to have found that and seen his other previous work to get more familiar with his content, while I anticipate seeing more in the future. Be sure to check out the video for Malik Elijah's latest drop here while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
