Tum Tum & Fat Bastard - Still Respect It or Check It (Album)
When it comes to Dallas rap royalty, no names ring out louder than Tum Tum and Fat Bastard. As prominent members of the legendary Dirty South Rydaz (DSR), these two have been moving slabs and shaking up speakers across Texas and beyond for decades. Now, they’ve joined forces once again on a new collaborative project to follow up their 2003 collaboration with a name that seems fitting; titled “Still Respect It or Check It” and it’s everything we didn’t know we needed in 2025.
Produced primarily by 12 Gs On The Beat, this project is a loud celebration of Dallas street culture and classic Southern rap aesthetics. From start to finish, it’s a full-on trunk-rattling experience that proves, once again, that real rap shit never expires. The guest list brings even more heat, with features from Yung Redd, Tay Money, Mr. Pookie, and more. Each feature feels like an event in itself, adding new energy while never taking away from the raw chemistry between Fat Bastard and Tum Tum.
Tracks like “Truck Banging” immediately set the tone, a bass-heavy anthem made for popping trunk waving, and letting the neighborhood know you’ve pulled up. Then there’s “What Would Pokey Do,” a certified standout that pays homage to the culture’s roots and reflects on staying solid in an era full of gimmicks. From top to bottom, there isn’t a dull moment. Fat Bastard and Tum Tum trade verses like two seasoned veterans; effortless, full of bravado, and always leaving a mark.
Beyond the hard-hitting beats and sharp flows, “Still Respect It or Check It” showcases that the game might change, but authenticity never goes out of style. Even after all these years, they haven’t lost a single ounce of energy or love for the art of rap especially repping their city. So go ahead, slide this project into your playlist, turn your speakers up, and let it shake the block. As Fat Bastard and Tum Tum prove here, some things never die, they just get louder.
