Sophie Hunter - Stereoscope (Single)

At the top of the week, I got familiar with Sophie Hunter through the visualizer for “Goon Squad,” a track off her latest album, “Stereoscope.” From the jump, the visualizer pulled me in with its eccentric, sensual energy. There was something undeniably seductive about the way Hunter carried herself, and before long, I found myself diving deeper into the album.

What I discovered was even more enticing.

“Stereoscope” is packed with playful confidence, flirtatious energy, and a provocative edge that makes every track feel like its own little temptation. Hunter raps with plenty of wit and comedic timing, but there’s always an alluring tone underneath it all. She knows how to tease the listener with her delivery before snapping right back into a commanding flow.

Her voice becomes part of the seduction. One moment she’s playful and coy, the next she’s completely taking control of the track. That contrast gives the album a personality that’s impossible to ignore.

The production keeps the experience moving, jumping from fast-paced rhythms that feel downright satisfying to softer, slower moments that allow Hunter’s presence to breathe. No matter the tempo, she knows how to make the sound work for her, creating vivid imagery within seconds.

There’s a certain confidence radiating throughout “Stereoscope;” the kind that doesn’t need to announce itself. Hunter steps into the room, owns the moment, and lets her music do the flirting.

“Goon Squad” may have been my introduction to Sophie Hunter, but “Stereoscope” made sure I stayed for the entire experience. Unapologetically fun is the best way to describe this album; it just knows exactly how to push buttons while keeping you entertained.
