Before I get to writing the review on her newest single, “ Popstar” I wanted to first touch on how the introduction to her music came to fruition on this side. I came across Ari Duarte’s latest single, “Fix It,” originally and it instantly made me reflect on how effective a well-crafted R&B record can be when the lyrics and production work hand in hand.

From the opening moments, “Fix It” establishes an intimate atmosphere. Duarte’s tantalizing lyrics pair naturally with a soft, laid-back tempo, creating the foundation for what feels like a mature R&B ballad. Confidence runs through the record, letting the song embrace its sensual subject matter without letting the lyrics overpower the music.

The softer instrumental gives Duarte plenty of room to let the vocals and lyrics breathe, while the steady tempo keeps the record smooth from beginning to end.

“Fix It” also demonstrates Duarte’s ability to tap into the more intimate side of R&B. Rather than relying solely on the provocative nature of the subject matter, the record uses emotions, delivery, and songwriting to create its appeal.
