Pac Div - Still Sealed, Vol. 1 (Album)
Last week, it felt surreal to get the chance to write about Pac Div finally; the trio that, for me, helped solidify my reputation for staying ahead of my peers in recognizing who was next. That instinct has always been a major part of what I bring to WAVEZ Movement, and Pac Div is one of those groups that made that vision feel undeniable.
After speaking on their triumphant return last week, it only felt right to follow that conversation by diving into their latest project, “Still Sealed, Vol. 1.” The first thing that stands out is that Pac Div hasn’t lost a step.
The chemistry is still there. The swagger is still there. Most importantly, the trio still sounds like they have something to prove even after everything they’ve already accomplished.
“Still Sealed, Vol. 1” carries the type of production that can remind longtime listeners of the energy found on projects like Don’t Mention It and Mania, while still managing to sound fresh in today’s landscape. That balance is difficult to achieve. The sound carries a sense of nostalgia, but Pac Div never lets it become a crutch.
The project carries an aged bravado throughout. Not arrogance, but confidence; the kind that comes from knowing your chemistry, knowing your sound, and understanding exactly what you bring to the table.
From “New Beginnings” to “All Gas,” Pac Div establishes the tone early. Then tracks like “Stay Solid” and “Slider” continue to showcase the versatility and personality that have always set the group apart.
The vital part of Pac Div’s return that makes it interesting is that they don’t feel like a group simply revisiting their past. They sound like artists who understand their history but aren’t trapped by it. That distinction matters.
Plenty of artists return years later and try to recreate a moment. Pac Div feels different. The goal doesn’t seem to be recreating the past; it’s about reminding listeners why they mattered in the first place while introducing themselves to anyone who may have missed the wave the first time around.
And for me, that’s what makes covering this project so rewarding.
I’ve always believed being ahead of the wave means recognizing the artists and creatives who will leave an impression before everyone else catches on. Pac Div was one of those names for me early on, and Still Sealed, Vol. 1 feels like another chapter in that story. The trio can still make music that feels rooted in their legacy without sounding dated.
