The Weekly Dip 3/22/2024

It's a week after SXSW, and we’re feeling excellent. A nice rested vacation before we start again by bringing you another edition of The Weekly Dip to enjoy some of our favorite releases. We got our recap article for South by coming in the next few days, including the return of the Hi-Tide magazine.

ThighPadFat - Climate Change (Video)

Out the country, the Dominican Republic to be exact, ThighPadFat linked with Donthypeme to enjoy the success he’s been enduring in his latest release titled “Climate Change”. Thoughts of behind bars to be able to travel overseas, his come-up is inspiring since most people in his neighborhood never live to see the days he’s living; he’s blessed with what he has and what has aligned in his life since he knows it could be a lot much worse. Never taking his day for granted anymore, living lavishly, and uplifting his people seem to be his motivation to continue building his wealth. The record speaks volumes not just to see his success but also inspiration that anyone dealt a lousy hand can turn it around to be the one racking up the winnings.

Dezi Stormz - Gangstas & Ballers (Single)

Before beginning her SXSW week, Dezi Stormz, better known as Fit Mami, released her first single titled “Gangstas & Ballers” alongside the visual treatment directed by Ace The Shooter that has been heating the temperature for the viewing experience. Dressed in schoolgirl attire, with some see-through clothing captured in multiple shots, she puts on a masterclass on how to be a bad b***h while getting the bag ran up in the process. Schooling a couple of baddies to get in their prime, Dezi is serving up looks with a provocative theme in raps that will surely be the highlight of her career moving forward. You can expect there to be a hit after hit in her repertoire.

Tay Money - There She Go (Single)

Tay motherfuckin Money's first single of 2024 dropped during SXSW week titled “There She Go” that has the Athens rapstress shaking ass and teasing, especially if you want to end up past her bedroom doors; you’ll going to have to wait but trust when she says it’s worth it. As always, it’s a signature Tay hit with an infectious chorus that you can sing along to, and her ability to flex her lifestyle being much better than yours is a delight we love to see in her music. Nights filled with liquor and booties bouncing, you can already see the plans her night has in store, filling with highlights from start to finish, with Tay serving up the looks and vibes better than anyone else.

Southside Hoodlum & Maxo Kream - Exotic Pop (Video)

Releasing earlier in the week, Southside Hoodlum's second collaboration with Maxo Kream, titled “Exotic Pop,” is toppled over with views coming in at a fast pace with fans enjoying part two for a Maxo & Hood link. The Stomp Down signees are posted in the middle of the Slumped Boys shop, going back and forth with the rapping, feeding off each other's energy and combating it with some prestigious pressure. Laced with his signature hoarse sound, Hoodlum is preparing for his forthcoming project, said to be one of his most significant pieces to date, with the indication coming from this single alone. Ace the Shooter behind the lens, and you have motion in the work; adding two powerhouses like this is only bound to see success and more to follow. Expect this record to be a key element on why you see Hood or Maxo live in the future, hoping to see this track played and performed.

TEARS - Mirage (Single)

After her new fan-favorite single “Switchin Up” did numbers on plays and views, Tears decided to double down on the recent success of her single and dropped another gem for her fans to enjoy for her latest ballad titled “Mirage”. With the emotional impact she brings to her music, you can easily fall in love with this record, which pinpoints her majestic vocals in the mysticism of her tale. I love the opening approach in English that slowly slides into Spanish before reverting back to English for the outro. Her bilingual transition is heartwarming, because she does it mid-trance not taking away from the feeling of the record but instead feeding it.

Western Tink - Crushin (Video)

Western Tink released the first single off his forthcoming project “Seminole” last week, where the Mikey Strange tailored production had Tink “Crushin” dope lines for this audio smoke that is breathing air back into the boom-bap sound and giving us hip-hop connoisseur something to enjoy. The visual showcases Tink posted inside and out of Jefferson Bodega, spitting that venomous rap scheme that will haunt your favorite rapper back to the shadow realm. It’s always good to hear from Western Tink, and this sound brings back the hunger in his tone, especially when leaving wack rappers in the dust and snatching your girl on his side. Take it for us; this upcoming project is going to be on some crazy shit; I can feel it just from this release alone.
