Stars aligned at Bayou Music Center for Chance The Rapper

One of my biggest goals this year was to catch Chance the Rapper live and I can proudly say, mission accomplished. When Chance announced his brand-new album “Star Line”along with the “And We Back” Tour, I circled the Texas date immediately. Houston got the love, and the night lived up to every expectation.

Chance took the stage with the kind of gratitude and energy that reminds you why fans have been riding with him since the 10 Day and Acid Rap era. Performing fresh tracks from Star Line like “Ride”gave us a taste of his current creative direction; vibrant, honest, and packed with soulful instrumentation. But Chance knows what the crowd came for too. When he broke into fan favorites like “Juice” and “Everybody’s Something,” the room erupted. The mix of new and old was the perfect balance: the nostalgia hit hard, but the new music proved Chance is still pushing boundaries.

From the lights to the crowd energy, Chance fed off the city’s spirit and gave everything back through his performance. The “Star Line” album feels like a reset for him, and seeing it unfold live in Texas felt like being part of a chapter in real time. Getting to witness Chance evolve while still paying homage to his roots checked off a major goal for me this year. The “And We Back” Tour is a celebration, and Houston was lucky enough to get a front-row seat to it.
