Chris56 - Provider (Album)

The angst off rip let’s you know this about to be one of them ones. 2 years in the making & so worth the wait if this is how he’s starting things! Chris has grown a lot in those 2 years & it’s all solidified throughout “provider”. So far, “IT’S ALRIGHT” this life of his, sure he dilly dallies between wanting to live & wanting to die, as we all do, this emotional musical journey can be quite taxing to say the least but even through the peaks & valleys, Chris knows that, as long as stays true to himself, things will work themselves out. Maybe he overindulges in his vices but we all got our potions to help wind us down when the days get too grey. The self awareness he’s exhibiting here makes the record all the more powerful but he remains stuck in his ways, boys will boys am I right? Although that second verse indicates that there’s some maturity he’s gained over the years, he’s no longer complaining about the cards he’s dealt, he’s just dealing them.

The previously released “MR. OFFICER” is still one of the best alternative records I’ve heard in a long time. He really captures the recklessness of the youth in this one. He enjoys living life on the edge, taking risks in life cause after all, we only get one go around so may as well do whatever we can to get those thrills out of it. Not necessarily the things he should be taking chances with in life but he’d rather worry about that after the fact. After he inevitably screws up, then he’ll ponder his actions but chances are he’ll probably be right back to his shenanigans. He’s under a lot of pressure so I don’t blame him for wanting to cause “RIOT”, you gotta get that anger out in one way or another. He can’t be tamed, nor should you even try to, unless you feel you can survive a mosh pit this violent. Pyrex only further adds to the hype with a standout performance. This will definitely cause a commotion at any concert but it’ll be the encore on loop if you attempt to remove him from the venue.

“NO CONTACT” has a bit of a country twang to it, which makes it all the more earnest. If you’ve ever been trying to forget somebody then you’ll feel this record tenfold. It’s one of the hardest parts of the process cause you tell yourself, I moved on, I’m healed but there’s always a part of you that’s gonna feel like, well maybe if I reach out, we can perhaps work this thing out but he’s smart enough to know that he’d probably immediately regret it. He’s willing to risk it all if her new dude tries to start any shit, if he sees him in public, the Texas boy in him will come out & it’s on sight. “38 SPECIAL” finds Chris ready to dead all his demons. He’s staring at his reflection & seeing the pain but this other part of him isn’t willing to take the necessary steps to heal. It’s like this constant tug of war with himself, praying that the better angels of his nature can win before he lets a round off.

On “GUM”, Chris faces his insecurities within his love life. He admits to being fearful of losing his control & having the upper hand in this dynamic, he knows if he shows her a side of him she’s never seen before, he loses part of the control. The thoughts he’s having alone could make him lose part of it but at least he didn’t act on them. That restraint he’s showing takes a lot, especially when it comes to love cause love will have you acting so out of character, particularly if you’re only with that person for all the wrong reasons. You’ll always live in fear of losing them one day cause you know you don’t deserve them. He tries not to be so fucked up but what can he say, he just is. Either you take him as is or be on your way. He’s “SUPERBAD” & you knew that the second you got involved with him but you stayed hoping he’d show you different but what you see is what you get. It’s not so “VAGUE” if he’s laying it out there like this. At least when everybody switched up on him, he stayed the same & now he’s fine being on his own & doing for himself for a change. It’s all fake anyway.
