Whenever she’s in her “street” bag, peep records like “PTSD”, she’s a whole other beast & “Clipped” here keeps that same energy that motherfuckers don’t keep once they face to face with you. This the kinda record that’ll get stuck in your mind like a headshot, as she guns this beat down so mercilessly, literally shooting at the listener’s feet or in this case, whatever poor bastard done did her wrong so much to the point where she just had to clip that person out her life. You know the old saying your mom used to tell you, don’t run with scissors? Well you better hope you do it to yourself before she gets to you cause she’s talking a different kind of clip here.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned & I wouldn’t even consider this a warning shot to whomever it may concern. As a man, there’s no way in hell I would ever get on this woman’s bad side cause as she stated, she could easily add your girl to the list of bodies she’s caught & I can only imagine the damage that could do. Dude might wanna start trying to come at her & commit a crime of passion. Between that, fake friends infiltrating her circle, wack rappers & exes online bashing her still, after all this time, she’s clearly fed up & welcomes all the smoke. Especially as a woman participating in a mostly male dominated space, she’s already at a disadvantage but on this record, she sounds like she could give a fuck if her skills as an artist trigger all the insecurities & deep seated misogyny that a lot of these dudes may carry.
When she says she’s “walking ****** down like the sidewalk, they yelling out wait!”, she kinda reminds me of Snoop from “The Wire” & we all know she was a force to be reckoned with on that show & like her, she’s inarguably one of the more vicious MC’s when it comes to this rap shit & let this single be a reminder to never test her gangsta cause all that sex symbol, songbird, R&B crooner shit is out the window at that point, at least once she’s done using it to her advantage to woo your bitch into her bed, just to hurt your feelings before she ultimately clips you. All in all, it’s one of the hardest records of the year so far & honestly, a bit of a sleeper, as it kinda fell under the radar but I urge you to not sleep or else she’ll come wake you to death with this one.
