Alex Irish - Twisted Metal (EP)

Taking a massive leap of faith into a new genre found Alex Irish entering a new space of creativity in her latest EP titled “Twisted Metal” where the freefall journey had her making a diverse introduction to the heavy metal rock sound that she now claims victorious in her catalog, perfecting her efforts to take her craft onto new horizons. Alex Irish unleashes so much emotions in this EP that once you unlock it, it’s cementing her name in your mind forever.

Opening her album to the “Morning Light Intro” slowly welcomes you into the familiar territory of Alex passionately conveying the start of a day feeling like normal with the production blissfully playing in the background, feeding off the emotions she brings in the ballad. It’s a warm feeling before igniting into the spontaneous combustion of her familiar single “Twisted Metal” that edges you in closer to the rock essence she bares that still brings her emotional reign surrounded by a bit more darkness yet seeping closer to the heart with how much energy she brings to the record. It was the first taste we got from Alex Irish’s versatility. She exceeded expectations that never felt lowered throughout the project, keeping the feeling high and mighty while closing any doubt she might have felt approaching the new sound. “All By Myself” has to be an instant hit on your first play-through; her rage and rhythm in the track are astounding, walking you closer to the darkness yet still feeling embraced by the light. Her known ability to be vivid with her words is seen in perfect display here; the production stays cooling alongside her vocals change up, still giving you goosebumps and keeping that bit of tingle in your spine. Alex Irish is digging carefully in her artistry and enjoying every bit. Providing her grace with a step forward in a new genre is not an easy task yet it’s evident that she perfects it as if this was her starting point in her career. “Fall Off” executes that theory perfectly, so nothing sounds duplicated or rehearsed; it is as if she fed into her feelings, and it became its own entity that is being heard now. It was also cool to see her take her fan-favorite record, “Psycho,” and give it a heavy metal version that again feels like we’re hearing what was meant to be an original piece. Alex Irish makes her debut into a new genre feel everlasting, not approaching it like a stranger but connecting emotionally to it and letting her soul do the rest. We’ve spoken on the gift of Alex Irish’s contribution to music and what it means to us, and I have to continue to double down on her work since it speaks for itself and the volume of creativity she brings is something special.

Since the EP releases, she has been enjoying the positive feedback and the deserved accolades she’s been receiving, which we love to see. I would love to attend if she ever performs this EP live; I could only imagine the vibes to feel enjoying this EP in an intimate setting. I’m sure this won’t be the conclusion of her in this genre and I’m hoping we can anticipate hearing more in the future until then we highly recommend getting attached to the EP as we have and enjoy the elated nature of Twisted Metal.
