nomi. - this wolf may cry (Album)
One of the year's best R&B projects in my opinion comes from nomi. with her latest body of work, “This Wolf May Cry.”Inspired by the classic tale The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Noni creates a musical interpretation that dives into the complexities of emotion, vulnerability, and the experiences that shape us along the way.
One of my favorite standouts about this project is how nomi. lets her emotions take center stage. Throughout the ballads, you can hear the different layers of her expression, creating moments that will have you sitting with your own thoughts and feelings. There’s an intimacy behind the records that makes the listening experience feel personal, almost as if you’re being invited into a chapter of her life.
Perseverance weaves through the project. Even when life feels cloudy and the days seem difficult to navigate, there are still rays of sunshine finding their way through. That balance between vulnerability and hope is what gives this project its lasting impression.
Across 11 records, nomi. delivers a collection that moves between intimate, emotionally driven moments and faster-paced records that bring an entirely different energy to the experience. That contrast keeps the project engaging, letting listeners experience different sides of her artistry without losing the overall direction. I love the transition to song from song, tracks like “r u?” & “digital dash” find solace in its words and production that will surely have you head over heels in feeling its embrace.
“This Wolf May Cry” is more than a collection of R&B records; it’s an emotional journey that reminds us there’s strength in letting yourself feel. nomi. has delivered a project that deserves to be in the conversation for one of the year’s standout R&B releases. A musical fairytale that showcases plenty of emotion, and a message of tenacity that resonates long after the music stops.
