With his latest single, “KONDO,” released under his newly refined moniker, KODIE, he makes a bold statement: he’s back, and he’s operating on an elevated frequency. The cover art, styled like a press release, feels symbolic, almost as if he’s formally announcing his re-entry into the game, a reintroduction on his own terms.
Now, they’ve joined forces once again on a new collaborative project to follow up their 2003 collaboration with a name that seems fitting; titled “Still Respect It or Check It” and it’s everything we didn’t know we needed in 2025.
Brooklyn’s lyricism throughout this record just feels like she’s sinking within as she watches the “ships in the night” slowly & painfully drift from out her reach, not a lifeline in sight. She could’ve easily returned to music with another Pop hit like “Retail Therapy” or “Coulda Shoulda Woulda”, “They Don’t Get It”, etc etc but instead, she took a risk in releasing some of her most personal work to date & you just have to appreciate it.
With the debut of her highly anticipated album “Morningside Heights”, named after her neighborhood in El Paso, Krystall Poppin solidifies her hometown pride while showcasing a refined sound that resonates far beyond city limits. El Paso has always been part of her narrative, but it feels like a full-circle moment this time.
If these two tracks are any indication of what’s to come from Khali’s highly anticipated project, then best believe we’re sitting at attention, ready and waiting for what other firepower he’s got in store.
RLPson returns this year with his latest track “You,” which released mid March this past month on Thursday, March 14th. I had the pleasure of meeting Ronnie in collaboration, where the first impression of his versatility and quality of music was undeniably great.
Under Issac Ray, he focuses on playing his acoustic guitar and delivers a more personal, intimate vocal and writing performance. Although SUNGATEPARK has now disbanded this year, Issac Ray persists with displaying his artistry as a solo project.
Shadoh didn’t hold anything back on this EP; she gave every bit of her heart to make it a special release. We admire her more as an artist and warrior; she’s a soulful person and someone to recognize as a blessing to the music community.
